Serving together

As The Found, we are whānau, we love Jesus and we love people. We believe in Manaaki tia—being supportive, caring, and showing hospitality to others. Our heart is to share the kindness and love of Jesus, leading people into a relationship with Him and extending the Kingdom of Heaven.

Whether it’s making meals, coaching sports, volunteering, or lending a helping hand, you’ll find us serving each other in the House, in our homes, and in the community. We’re all about making a difference and using our gifts from God,  to help others know Jesus, find community, and discover purpose. We host, fund, and partner with like-minded organisations and ministries that reflect our Biblical, holistic, ethical, and generous values.

Spiritual gifts

Finding Your Purpose in the Body of Christ
Knowing your spiritual gifts is a game-changer. It’s how you find your purpose, connect with others, and make a real impact. Each of us is uniquely designed by God, and every gift He’s given us plays a vital role in His plan. Together, we make up the body of Christ, with each of us contributing in our own way. As 1 Corinthians 12:12 (CSB) says, “For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ.”

Understanding your spiritual gifts helps you see where you fit in, how you can serve others, and how you can grow in your faith. Whether you’re called to teach, encourage, pray, or lead, your gift is essential to the health and strength of the Church. By discovering and using your gifts, you’re not just filling a role—you’re living out your God-given purpose and helping to build up the body of Christ.

Here’s a breakdown of the spiritual gifts:

Ministry spiritual gifts

Apostles: "And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:11-12, CSB). Apostles are visionaries who pioneer new ministries and lead others in fulfilling God’s mission.

Prophets: Prophets speak God’s truth, bringing clarity and guidance. They help the church stay aligned with God’s will.

Evangelists: Evangelists have a heart for sharing the gospel and reaching those who don’t know Jesus yet. They’re passionate about making Jesus known.

Pastors (Shepherds): Pastors care for and nurture the church community, guiding them in their walk with Jesus.

Teachers: Teachers make God’s Word understandable and practical, helping others grow in their faith and knowledge.

Additional spiritual gifts

Serving: "If service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching" (Romans 12:7, CSB). Serving is about meeting needs and showing love in practical ways. It’s all about being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Encouragement: "If exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness" (Romans 12:8, CSB). Encouragers lift others up, bringing hope and positivity to those who need it.

Giving: Giving is about being generous with what you have, supporting others and the work of the church.

Leadership: Leadership involves guiding others with wisdom and integrity, helping them to fulfill God’s purposes.

Mercy: The gift of mercy is all about compassion. It’s showing kindness and care to those who are hurting or in need.

Wisdom: "To one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:8, CSB). Wisdom allows you to apply God’s truth to everyday situations, helping others make godly decisions.

Knowledge: Knowledge is understanding deep truths about God’s Word and sharing them to help others grow.

Faith: "To another, faith by the same Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:9, CSB). Faith is the gift of trusting God in big ways and encouraging others to believe for the impossible.

Healing: Healing is about being a vessel through which God’s power brings physical, emotional, or spiritual healing to others.

Miracles: The gift of miracles is when God works supernaturally through you to bring about extraordinary things that point people to Him.

Discernment: "To another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits" (1 Corinthians 12:10, CSB). Discernment helps you recognize what is from God and what isn’t, protecting the church from deception.

Tongues and Interpretation: "To another, different kinds of tongues; to another, interpretation of tongues" (1 Corinthians 12:10, CSB). Speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues are gifts that edify the church and bring a deeper understanding of God’s message.
